Orpen Rest Camp in Central Region, Kruger National Park, Limpopo
Orpen Rest Camp lies in a region of good pasture, with an abundance of grass and other plants which is a great food source for the abundance of game in the area, making it one of the top game viewing regions of the Park. Set amongst rock gardens vibrant with Aloes and Barberton Daisies the camp is popular with visitors for its easy access to surrounding grassland vistas, with grazers accompanying the sweet grass, and predators trailing never far behind.
Recognised for its diversity of habitat and activity, the camp is also superbly hospitable: guests are greeted with chilled champagne and canopes upon arrival, and are largely left out of the check-in procedure.
Knowledgeable game rangers guide visitors towards savannah trails, game-viewing hides, and self-guided flora-walks. Alternatively, guests are free to lounge about the pool.
Wild dogs are spotted regularly in the area.
Rabelais Hut, a small museum and information centre, is just 9 kilometres/5.6 miles from Orpen.
Further along you will find the Rebelais waterhole, a place where large numbers of game can be seen relaxing in the water or simply quenching their thirst.
